Feeling the need to organize the European reptile and amphibian veterinarians, speaking different languages in different countries, yet working enthusiastically with the same matter in private practices or universities all over Europe, the idea of a new European veterinary association was born on the 2005 PMRA (Symposium on Pathology and Medicine of Reptiles and Amphibians) in Berlin.
After nearly one year of planning and discussing via the internet, 14 colleagues from 9 different countries came together in Düsseldorf, Germany on March 5th 2005 to work out a constitution and to elect a first year's board.
